The shop sells around sixteen thousand different things, and every one of them needs a photograph. Most of ours came from open catalogues that anybody can contribute to and anybody can use, including a village shop. Those catalogues ask one thing in return, which is that the people who took the photographs are credited. This is where we do that.

Product photographs on GelliLocal (Gelli Costcutter) are taken from the Open Food Facts family of databases and are used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. They were contributed by members of the public, and the copyright stays with them.

We match on the barcode printed on the pack and nothing else, so the picture you see belongs to the product you are buying rather than something with a similar name. Where a photograph has been resized or re-saved to load quickly on a phone, that version is available under the same Creative Commons licence.

Some pictures were taken or supplied by the shop itself, or provided by the manufacturer for retailers to use. Those belong to URD PATEL LTD or to the brand concerned and are not covered by the licence above.

A photograph is a guide to the product, not a promise about the particular packet on the shelf. Manufacturers change their packaging regularly, and a catalogue photograph may show a different size or variety of the same thing. The size and variety you are actually buying are in the product name and description, which is what the picker reads.
